Active and Passive Mobilization of soft tissue into the healing direction

Cupping Therapy is a traditional method that involves creating localized suction on the skin to enhance blood flow and promote healing.

With advancements in our understanding of anatomy and physiology, we have harnessed the full potential of this suction effect. The Modern Cupping Method (MCM) is a technique designed to mobilize soft tissue and the connective tissue beneath the skin, also known as fascia.

About the founder

Kenny is a registered physiotherapist in New Zealand and Hong Kong with 17 years of clinical experience.

He is the consultant physiotherapist and clinical educator in A+ Physio based in Dunedin, working mainly with patients with complex chronic pain.

He was born and trained in Hong Kong, then continued his pursue of knowledge in Australia and New Zealand. He worked with the Hong Kong national Orienteering team and the educational committee for the Hong Kong Physiotherapy Association.

He completed his master training in Manipulative Physiotherapy in University of Otago with his research focus on clinical pilates, in which movement pattern analysis for patient is key. Kenny underwent training for acupuncture with the study of Traditional Chinese Medicine straight after graduation and that’s how he got in touch with cupping therapy, while exploring the 'East meet West' approach.

With inspiration from the doctors in China and modification of the therapeutic cups to the silicon cups that are used nowadays, Kenny integrate the treatment approaches of two sides of the world and help us unmask the therapeutic secret of Chinese traditional cupping therapy and the application of it on the tricky and complex musculoskeletal and fascial system.
